Wedding Day Gift Giving – from the Bride & Groom

Posted on: March 14, 2011 by Peg

There are a number of gifts that the Bride and Groom present.  These gifts range from small table favors for each guest to thank you gifts for people who have helped them with the wedding.   One advantage to giving beautiful gifts with your wedding date and names engraved is that they will serve as reminders for the recipients to send out Anniversary Gifts for years to come!

Gifts for the Wedding Guests

Popular items that we have engraved for wedding guests include votives and wedding bellsEach of these small items can be engraved with the wedding couples name, wedding date, and even their custom artwork.

Gifts to the Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids

Wonderful gifts for the Maid of honor and the bridesmaids are perfume bottles.  Perfume bottles come in a variety of shapes and sizes and depending on the style can be engraved with a brief word of thanks and the couple’s wedding date.

Gifts to the Best Man and the Groomsmen

Tradition holds true in gift giving to the best man and the groomsmen.  Flasks, Wine Tools, and Zippo lighters are often engraved with the wedding information.

Gifts for the Parents

In recent months we’ve seen an increase in the number of thank you gifts from the couple to their parents.  Couples have requested that we engrave 2-3 lines of thanks combined with their wedding artwork or one of our stock designs on wine bottles, wine bottle gift sets , and vases for each of their parents.

Will You Marry Me?

Posted on: February 21, 2011 by Peg

Will You Marry Me?

Looking for a unique way to ask someone to marry you?  Google the iconic words “Will You Marry Me?” and within minutes you will find a number of suggestions.  Here are 3 interesting ones I found:

  1. There’s a book on the subject. “ Will You Marry Me?:  Seven Centuries of Love” by Helene Scheu-Riesz.
  2. For a  high tech solution be sure to visit “Katie will you marry me” at Gizmodo
  3. And the stalker approach, written about in the NY times.

With this in mind I realized that we’ve seen a few unique ideas come through our workshop as well.

Engraved Plates

One gentleman had us engrave a poem asking his love to marry him on a plate.  His plan was to take his girlfriend to her favorite restaurant and serve desert on the engraved plate.  Once she finished her dessert she would see his proposal.   It was a great idea, I hope it worked.  I couldn’t help but think that the lighting in the restaurant had better be good and that she ordered the type of dessert that wouldn’t mess up the bottom of the plate – like a cookie!

Engraved Wine Bottles

We’ve engraved a number of wine bottles with the simple words “Katie, Suzie, Tim.., Will You Marry Me?”  Some people have chosen romantic clipart to go along with the bottle others just preferred to have the words engraved.  I am not sure whether they planned on having the waiter open the bottle at the table and wait for the reaction or if they were just going to hand it to the recipient, perhaps in some cases they had it delivered.

Engraved Vases

Actually that was the plan behind one recent idea.  A client’s idea was to engrave “Will You Marry Me?” in a vase and have it delivered with a bouquet of roses.  This gentleman also had us engrave a short poem that had special significance to his love into the vase and “Will You Marry Me?”  He planned to have a local florist deliver the flowers in the vase and hold his breath until the phone rang.

One advantage to having your proposal engraved into a vase, plate or wine bottle is that it becomes a wonderful keepsake.  Not that you would ever forget the day you propose or were proposed to, but a visual reminder is a wonderful thing.  You might even consider having the date engraved – with time dates begin to fade!

Engraved Gifts to Commemorate Relgious Events

Posted on: February 7, 2011 by Peg

Religious Events

Many orders are placed to commemorate events of a religious theme.  Over the years we have expanded our artwork to accommodate major religious milestones.  Use our religious clipart section to augment your personalized text, bible verse, or vows.

Listed below are 4 life events that touch people of all faiths and creeds and for which we do a considerable amount of engraving.

Birth / Baptism:

Mark this wonderful occasion with a personalized item engraved with the date etched deeply into a glass candle, plate, or bell.  Over the years this item will be looked at often and bring joy to the recipient.

Confirmation:

We are often requested to engrave Confirmation Verses into crystal / marble bibles, glass candles, or plaques.    By deep etching this important verse into a beautiful item of your choice the conformant will be reminded of this important day forever.

Wedding Vows:

What better way to remember your vows to each other than by having them engraved into a plate, candle or other gift item.  We can even incorporate your wedding artwork theme into the design through our custom artwork program.

In Memorial:

As time passes so do many of our friends and family, keep them close to you by engraving a memorial to them.  Include a short verse that that was dear to them or simply a statement of how much they meant to you.  Of course they will never be forgotten, but having a beautiful item adorn your home, they will be always near.

Valentine Gift Ideas

Valentine Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is only 2 weeks away!  The most thoughtful gifts are those that are meaningful to the recipient and well planned.    Below are some examples of personalized gifts that combine clipart, a meaningful saying and a beautiful gift.

 Examples from clients.

“Two souls, one heart.”

“Grow old with me!  The best is yet to be.”

“A hundred hearts would be too few
To carry all my love for you.”

“Love means nothing in tennis, but it’s everything in life.”

“The best thing about me is you.”

 Not sure what to say?

Pick up your high school or college literature book, there are sure to be poems by Keats or Wordsworth, that may not have had any meaning to you years ago, but now may help you express your feelings.   If you can’t find your book go online, there are hundreds of sites with famous quotes and sayings.  To give you a leg up here are 5 sites that might be useful.

What do I give?

We get feed back from our clients saying how much they loved the engraved vase or bottle we did for them.  So we know that engraved gifts are very memorable and well received.  Combine your personal sentiment with some artwork and choose an item which you know they will like and you are creating a truly unique and personalized gift that will be remembered for years.  However one thing to remember when giving gifts, “Every gift which is given, even though it be small, is in reality great, if it is given with affection.”
